Bio Sculpture Rock and Crystal Collection

Nail Romance - Bio Sculpture metallic nails

Loving these sleek metallic tones from the Rock and Crystal Collection from Bio Sculpture.

These polishes are available as gels in salon, or as regular polishes. The polishes are hard-wearing and I wore them for over 5 days without a chip.

I’m wearing Smothered with Minerals on my nails and Melting Mercury as a feature nail on my ring finger.

These five new metallic shades can be combined in nail art designs or look chic on their own.

  • Smothered with Minerals (No 136) – A versatile bronze that changes with the light, filled with glitter sediments for a high shine shimmer.
  • Embellished Onyx (No 137) – Combining the shine of rich black onyx with a gritty embellishment. It’s dark gothic glamour at its finest.
  • Melting Mercury (No 138) – This solid silver, mirror-like tone makes a strong statement, with a high shine reflection.
  • Amethyst Moonstone (No 139) – This finish is almost black at first look but surprises with an ultra deep purple undertone.
  • Totally Topaz (No 140) – A chic golden tone, the rich pigment takes an intense yellow topaz inspired colour.

Toi et Moi nails by Bio Sculpture

Biosculpture nails - Toi et Moi show

Classic nail colours were the choice for the latest Toi et Moi collection showing in Sydney. The hero colours were BioSculpture Licorice, French White and Breaking Dawn.

I’m really crushing on white nails at the moment. Previously a colour I only considered for French tips, all over white nails are the new French manicure. So simple and so chic.

How to: 3D Glitter Nails

BYS Glitter dust - Nail Romance

I was sent these BYS Glitter Dust nail packs and inside are all you need to create 3D glitter nails:

– Base colour
– Loose glitter
– Brush

Nail Romance - BYS blue 3d glitter dip nails

It’s really a simple three step process to create these glitter textured nails. Just

  1. Paint
  2. Dip
  3. Brush

Style tips

  • Glitter can be messy so do your nails over a piece of paper so you can clean up easily. Even better, do your nails outside!
  • Seal the glitter with a topcoat, though I found it wore ok without it. You’ll have less glitter fall if you use a topcoat.

My Nail Romance with So Nailicious

So Nailicious - My Nail Romance

SoNailicious is a relatively new nail blog but boy has it made an impact in a short time. Maria was already known for her fashion blog Crashing Red when she started SoNailicious at the end of 2012. She combines her love of art and fashion into some amazing nail art. Maria has also released an ebook with tutorials of her nail art.

Tell me a bit about your blog

SoNailicious is a one stop destination to help you to make your nails look fabulous! Nail art, how to-s, nail polish reviews, nail and hand care product recommendations as well as expert tips and the latest nail trends.

How often do you post?

CrashingRed – 3 times p/week
SoNailicious – 4 times p/week

Are you left or right handed?

What’s your best tip for painting your other hand?

Lots of practice

How often do you paint your nails?

It depends. Sometimes several times a day if I get inspired or want to try different nail polishes or nail art designs (and I have some free time), sometimes few times a week, sometimes just once.

How many polishes in your collection?

Not much, only about 300. I’m trying to keep it around that number as I have no much space to store them.

How do you store your polishes?

In empty Ferrero Rocher boxes (haha they are so pretty I thought I’d recycle them rather then just throwing away), organised by colors.

Which brand has the best brush?

Favorite polish brand?

I can’t pick just one I like too many for different reasons.

Best luxe brand?

Best bargain buy?

Favorite color?

Glitter. Can it be a color?

Favorite color combinations?

Anything with gold, ie. blue and gold, green and gold, etc.

Best colour for work?

It depends I guess on type of work and situation. Say, you can’t be a lawyer and wear crazy Zombie nail art or fluoro holo polish, can you?

Best party color?

Depends on outfit you’re wearing. Nudes can work as well as brights.

Best tip for making nail polish last longer?

Dry your nails before painting them, wear great quality base coat and wear top coat.

What’s your favorite nail art trend?

Dazzle Dry Polish – Vive Le Violet

Nail Romance - Dazzle Dry polish in Vive le Violet

Dazzle Dry is a vegan, fast-drying polish that dries hard in five minutes. It’s free from formaldehyde, DBP, toluene and camphor and is non yellowing.

After reading about this brand online I’m pleased that Dazzle Dry polish is now available in Australia.

I was sent Vive le Violet to try along with their three piece nail system kit. After preparing my nails with the Nail Prep and Base Coat, I wasn’t that thrilled with the first coat of Vive Le Violet. Application was a little streaky but the second coat was completely opaque. Then came the Top Coat. This really sealed the deal and gave my nails a super shine finish that looked like a gel polish.

This colour drew a lot of attention on my nails and lasted several days without a chip. I can’t wait to try more colours from the range.
